Portugal take on Morocco in Group B of the 2018 FIFA World Cup after a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick helped them earn a point against Spain.
Portugal: Portugal got their WC campaign underway with a dramatic, hard-fought 3-3 draw against 2010 champions Spain last Friday. Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick, including a fabulous 88th-minute free-kick goal, to earn his side a point and make it a night to forget for Spain goalkeeper David de Gea. Portugal now sits joint-second alongside Spain and two points off group leaders Iran.
Morocco: Morocco, who are making their first WC finals appearance since 1998, saw an 18-game unbeaten run in all competitions come to an end on Friday with a 1-0 loss to Iran in the opening match. Although they were fancied by some to cause an upset or two in Group B, they were on the receiving end of a shock result last time out. Also, it is worth pointing out though, that Morocco really struggled to create any high-quality chances
Conclusion: This clash will be just the second-ever meeting between these sides and the first since 1986, when Morocco beat Portugal 3-1 in the group stages of the WC, held in Mexico. Anyway, if Portugal continues to play like they did against Spain, they should progress. After all, Ronaldo’s squad represents good value to land a first win of the tournament.
