France takes on Peru in Group C of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, with France having to respond to critics after a below-par performance last time out.
France: France came under some fairly strong criticism after their 2-1 win over Australia, but it was deserved as they were fortunate to win the game. However, in their pre-WC campaign, Didier Deschamps’s men beat Ireland (2-0) and Italy (3-1) before recording a draw against USA (1-1).
Peru: Peru were frustrated in their opening-match defeat to Denmark, as they failed to create many good chances and missed a penalty. Before taking off for Russia, the Peruvians defeated Scotland (2-0) and Saudi Arabia (3-0) and were held to a draw by Sweden (0-0). In the World Cup, the Peruvians are on a run of seven matches without a single win while have lost only one of their last 16 matches in all competitions.
Conclusion: France were underwhelming against Australia, so a reaction is expected. Changes are expected ahead of this game with Didier Deschamps under pressure, but it is expected that these changes will pay off wit ha much-improved performance. Therefore, Peru shouldn’t cause them too many problems in this game.
