3 Players To Have Won The Premier League With Two Different Clubs

James Milner will be hoping to become just the eleventh player to have won the Premier League with two different clubs this season. Milner first won the top honour during his five-year stay at the Etihad with Manchester City.

In fact, he won two Premier League honors with the Citizens, and that is something that could prove invaluable this season with Liverpool. James Milner is the only player in the current squad to have played a pivotal role in a title success in the Premier League, and he is undoubtedly a leader in the changing room. These aspects could see Liverpool’s odds get higher to win the league.

However, which players have also achieved the success of winning two Premier League titles with two different clubs?

Ashley Cole

One of the most controversial transfers in the history of the Premier League saw Ashley Cole swap Arsenal for Chelsea in the summer of 2006. Cole became the best left-back in the world during his time with the Gunners, and he was an integral member of their invincible side that won the title in the 2003-04 season.

He swapped North London for South London in 2006, and the decision had immediate rewards. He was a crucial member of Jose Mourinho’s squad that won the FA Cup. However, he would have to wait until the 2009-10 season for his first title success at Stamford Bridge. In total, he won three Premier League titles; two with Arsenal and one with Chelsea.

Henning Berg

Henning Berg was a leader in the backline for every club that he played for, and that was epitomized when he became the first player to win the Premier League title with two different clubs. His first title came during his time with Blackburn Rovers as they shocked the division by winning the crown in 1995.

Berg stayed for two more seasons at Ewood Park, before moving on to Manchester United. This was during the beginning of United’s era until the late 2010’s, when they were chronic favorites to the Premier League title, like the Lakers are in the NBA betting odds.

He played an important role for the Red Devils and ensured the club won back-to-back titles in 1999 and 2000. The latter of which saw Henning Berg play the most games in a single season for the Old Trafford club. However, he was sold back to Blackburn in 2001. He will forever be remembered as the first player to achieve this accomplishment of winning the top-flight title with two different clubs.

N’GoloKante

No football fan will ever forget the famous Leicester City title win in the 2015-16 season, and one of their most important players in that success was N’GoloKante. He was only signed by the Foxes in the summer prior to that season, and he came to the Premier League as an unknown quantity. His hard-running and ability to win the ball back was a trait renowned for that Foxes side. However, due to his performances, he was quickly signed by Chelsea in the summer after that success.

His performances would once again catch the eye, and he played a pivotal role in the title success under Antonio Conte. He would play in 35 games that season and became the first player since Eric Cantona in 1993 to win back-to-back titles with two different clubs.

His ability on the football field has also ensured that he was a regular for the French national side during their World Cup-winning triumph in 2018. During that title-winning season with Chelsea, he also won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the FWA Footballer of the Year.

There you have it, 3 players to inspire Milner and Liverpool. Besides the 3 mentioned, here are the other 7 who accomplished that feat: RiyahMahrez (Chelsea, Man. City), Kolo Toure (Arsenal and Man. City), Gael Clichy (Arsenal and Man. City), Carlos Tevez (Man. United and Man. City), Nicolas Anelka (Arsenal and Chelsea), Mark Schwarzer (Chelsea and Leicester City) and Robert Huth (Chelsea and Leicester).
