Valencia faces Atletico Madrid in a match for the 3rd round of the Spanish La Liga.
Valencia: The home team has started off well and could be challenging for a Champions League spot this year. Also, they beat Las Palmas 1-0 at home then drew 2-2 away to Madrid. So far, they have shown a lot of competence in passes and counter attacks. Furthermore, their offence has scored consistently, as they have scored goals in 9 of the last 10 matches. They are missing midfielder Gil and defender Vezo.
Atletico Madrid: On the other side, the away team has played poorly in the 2-2 away draw to Girona before impressing in the 5-1 thrashing of Las Palmas. Today they have a real test and their defence has not been the same lately letting in 3 goals in 2 matches. With the Roma match only 3 days away they might have their thoughts elsewhere and a trip to Mestalla will be a tough place to get a result. They are missing the suspended Griezmann Augusto Fernández and defender Vrsaljko.
Conclusion: In spite of tight schedule and poor performance, Atletico Madrid should dominate ball possession and have more attacks. However, they will struggle to score a goal against tough Valencia’s defence. Covering the home side with Asian handicap should be a winning option.
